Bic Runga

Bic Runga is 26 years old, originally from Christchurch, now based between Auckland and New York. She is a singer songwriter, signed to Columbia Records in New Zealand. Bic has made one album, her debut "Drive" was released in New Zealand in 1997, an album which she wrote, recorded and produced herself. The record spawned 6 top twenty singles,including the worldwide hit "Sway", spent a month in the #1 position on the national album sales chart and a total of over 75 weeks in the charts altogether - and it has gone on to become the biggest selling album by a New Zealander in New Zealand in history. To date, the album has sold more than 6 times platinum.

"Drive" was also released all around the World in 1998 and for the next two years, Bic travelled the globe relentlessley, playing live and completing promotional duties for the record. Bic is an international priority artist for Columbia Records. She has won swags of awards - in New Zealand, Australia and the USA - not only for her music and her album, but also for her live performances.

Bic is a powerful and mesmerising performer, combining great skill as a musician (she plays guitars, keyboards, bass and drums) with a voice that is quite simply awesome. She is impossible to stop watching. Bic returned to New Zealand in 2000 and has spent the greater part of it writing songs and completing pre-production for her next album. Bic was recording that album last year and Columbia worldwide are anticipating another huge success when they release the record in 2001
