Campsites and Holiday Parks
New Zealand Campsite and Holiday parks are very well appointed. All have motorhome, campervan, or mobile home power hook ups. There are the commercially owned campsites and holiday parks New Zealand also has DOC (Department of conservation) government owned campgrounds, which provide camping options in national and forest parks. It also gives you camping options in other conservation areas around New Zealand. These campgrounds offer only basic facilities and are on a first in first served basis. Bookings can be made at the serviced campgrounds by contacting the nearest DOC visitor information centre.
Commercial campsites and holiday parks usually have cabins to hire, kitchens, laundries, shower and toilet facilities, some have TV rooms and swimming pools. This has been a growing area in New Zealand accommodation, with the increase of Motorhome, campervan and mobilehome travel around our scenic country.
You are required to clean up after yourself both in the kitchen and around the campsite or holiday park in New Zealand.
Bookings in NZ are advised from the beginning of November until the end of March.
Staff at the campsite or holiday park are very helpful and can guide you in the right direction with tours around the area to car rentals.
The campsite or holiday park office would have all the travel guides and maps to help your NZ adventure.
