Hitch Hiking Dunedin
Although Dunedin is a small city,
it helps to take a bus to get to
the good hitchhiking spots.
Take a bus to Pine Hill and try
your luck on State Highway 1 if
you're heading north to Christchurch.
Hitching south from Dunedin can
be a bit slow-going. If you're
heading to either Invercargill
or Queenstown you can take a bus
to Fairfield to avoid the local
traffic. Alternatively you can
try your luck at the beginning
of the motorway that goes from
Oval to Caversham; there is a bit
of local traffic on this route
but it is also much closer to the
city centre. Use a destination
sign so you don't get picked up
by someone heading the wrong way.
BUG Ride is BUG's own web-based
ride sharing service, it allows travellers to both offer lifts and search for
rides throughout New Zealand and the Pacific.
