TV Channels

There are 5 national free-to-air TV stations in New Zealand: TV1, TV2, TV3, C4 (music channel) and Prime.

Sky (pay-for-view satellite TV) is also available in most hotels and features around 60 channels including such as ESPN, CNN, HBO and the Discovery Channel.

Sky costs between $35-$100nzd depending on the channel package you choose. 
You can also buy a TV top box which gives you access to "Freeview" Which are all the free channels above, with a few extras. They are all transmitted by satellite. Once you buy a satellite dish and TV top box there are no monthly fees.
