Power Supply
In New Zealand the power points are usually three pins and have a voltage of 230-240 volts. Adaptor plugs are best purchased outside of New Zealand before you travel with most models being able to utilise two pins as in the photograph shown below.
New Zealand switches work in the opposite way from the USA.
This switch is down which is 'On'.
The outlet have switches on them so you can leave an appliance plugged in but still turn off the flow of electricity.
This example below has the top outlet plug 'Off' and the bottom on 'On'. Not all outlet plugs in New Zealand have a red mark on them to indicate the power is on.
New Zealander's are encouraged to turn appliances off at the wall outlet to save power.
