In New Zealand from Monday to Friday most shops and businesses are open from 9:00am to 5:00pm. There are usually also two nights each week (normally Thursday & Friday) where shops will stay open for late night shopping and close around 8:30pm-9:00pm. However many of the larger supermarket chains and convenience stores in NZ will stay open most nights of the week. Some petrol (gas) stations are open 24 hours 7 days a week stocking most common foods and other needs

New Zealand Saturday shopping areas will usually start at the later time of 10:00am and close at 5:00pm (with some shops closing at 2:00pm). Most NZ shopping malls will open on Sunday for trading hours between 10:00am-4:00pm.
For souvenir shopping a lot of the duty free and souvenir shops in the main centres operate late night trading hours most nights of the week.
