Mt Potts

From Methven head toward Mt.Hutt. When at the highway turn left along Highway 72. When you reach Mt.Somers village take the first right and follow the signs to Lake Clearwater. Keep driving through Lake Clearwater village for another 10 minutes and you'll arrive at Mt.Potts Lodge. From the lodge the ski area is helicopter accessed, and lifts on the mountain are provided by the snowcat. Bookings are essential."

Description:

Dubbed the new spot X by a visiting La Grave guide, Mt.Potts is New Zealand's only heli-accessed cat-skiing experience. Join a group of no more than 14 guests skiing the steeps, powder, basins and chutes of Mt.Potts. Located an hour's drive from Methven, Mt.Potts is the highest ski area in the south island.
Our day pass includes heli access onto and off Mt.Potts, skiing or boarding all day with our patrollers, transceiver hire and tuition, a packed lunch and coffee and cake once you're back down at the lodge. We can arrange transfers from Methven or Christchurch, or you can self drive to base lodge in a 2wd vehicle.
Terrain:
You'll get an average of 12 - 14 runs per day in terrain to challenge intermediate to expert riders and skiers. Don't worry if you're less confident, there are some wide open bowls and mellower areas to cruise down too. Our last run of the day is a 2km mission to the end of the snowline.
Base:
Stay at Mt.Potts lodge! A chalet in the Alps with a New Zealand twist. Mt.Potts Lodge is a converted woolshed with history and charm. A three course dinner, bed and breakfast are included in the price of your overnight stay. We have a licensed restaurant, and bar, warmed by a great pot belly fire. Mt.Potts lodge has twin and share rooms, and a cottage.
