Paparoa National Park
(27,818 ha), established in 1987, is on the West Coast of the South Island between Westport and Greymouth. A rugged and lovely coastal area, it includes the Pancake Rocks at Punakaiki.
Things to do in Paparoa National Park:
- Go on a coastal walk
- Visit the Pancake rocks at high tide and watch the blow
- holes do their stuff
- Hike one of the inland tracks and discover the limestone formations
- Go paddling along the relaxing Pororari River
- Take your torch, warm clothes and sturdy footwear then explore the caves around Punakaiki
